Union Budget’s shipbuilding push set to enhance supply chains and boost trade

The ₹25,000 crore maritime development fund announced in the Union Budget 2025 marks a significant step toward strengthening India’s shipbuilding sector and logistics network, according to Leo Peter Charles, Founder & Managing Director of Jane Solutions. He emphasized that enhanced shipbuilding capabilities will help expand the shipping fleet, reduce reliance on foreign vessels, and lower logistics costs, particularly benefiting industries like fisheries and agri-exports. Additionally, improved port infrastructure and coastal connectivity will make India more competitive in global trade and maritime logistics.
